The Triumvirate of Food Heaven...

When the awesome Eventide Restaurant opened, Clarendon began to register on the foodie radar. Now that the N. Fillmore Street eateries are open, it is a foodie destination. This unassuming street is now home to Screwtop Wine Bar and Cheese Shop, Artisan Confections, and Bakeshop. Recently, I participated in a foodie triathlon, hitting up all three places in one afternoon. It was glorious.

I started with brunch at Screwtop. I would have been impressed with wine and cheese selection alone, but was larger than I expected and included brunch, lunch, dinner, and tapas options. Everything looked delicious. It was brunch, so I opted for the Baked French Toast made like bread pudding, baked, and caramelized. It was phenomenal. The atmosphere was quiet and laid back. Perfect start to the day.

Artisan Confections are as good as they look. I loved the flavor selection, my two favorites were Aged Bourbon and Dark Stout. My new life goal: making my way through all the flavors one day.

Bake Shop has fun cupcakes that are rich and have a homemade quality to them. With flavors like Nutella, they really can't go wrong. My friends and I had a brush with fame when we spotted the creator of these delicacies, Mr. Cupcake. Sadly we did not get his autograph.
